Abstract:Text-to-Image generation has evolved from basic image synthesis into a frequently used core capability in professional creative workflows, where simple text-image alignment can no longer satisfy users' pressing demands for faithful real-world reconstruction and genuine creative expression. Existing benchmarks, however, remain anchored in these foundational criteria and do not yet capture the nuanced capabilities that matter in authentic artistic practice, making it difficult to reliably distinguish state-of-the-art T2I models. To address the gap, we introduce Qwen-Image-Bench, a creator-centric benchmark co-designed with professional artists and grounded in real-world creation scenarios. Qwen-Image-Bench enriches conventional evaluation with two application-driven dimensions: Real-world Fidelity and Creative Generation. Drawing on the staged reasoning inherent in professional artistic workflows, we organize these five pillars into a top-down hierarchical taxonomy that further decomposes into 23 second-level sub-capabilities and 56 third-level verifiable rubrics. To ensure broad coverage, we curate 1000 stratified prompts with each prompt jointly exercising more than four fine-grained facets across multiple pillars. We train a unified judge model Q-Judger based on Qwen3.6-27B, supervised by 80 professional annotators from global art academies under blind labeling and triple-review protocols, that scores every image across all 56 verifiable facets, producing fine-grained, rubric-grounded, and fully attributable diagnostics rather than a single opaque score. Empirically, Qwen-Image-Bench reliably distinguishes leading T2I models, achieving the greatest separation on the two application-driven dimensions of Real-world Fidelity and Creative Generation where existing benchmarks provide little insight, while also providing a trustworthy optimization signal for production-level T2I development.
Abstract:Normalizing flows (NFs) provide exact likelihoods and deterministic invertible sampling, but have historically lagged behind diffusion models for large-scale image generation. We identify a key obstacle: NFs are required to learn a single invertible transport over the full ambient space, making them highly sensitive to high-dimensional representations. This leads to a semantic-capacity mismatch in modern visual representation spaces, where semantic information is compact but encoded in overcomplete features. We propose SRC-Flow, which introduces a Semantic Representation Compressor (SRC) to compact high-dimensional RAE features into a low-dimensional semantic space before flow modeling and preserve reconstruction through the frozen RAE decoder. This compact space reduces the modeling burden of NFs and enables effective likelihood-based generation in semantic representation space. We further adopt constant noise regularization tailored to the fixed unconditional bijection learned by flows. On ImageNet $256 \times 256$ and $512 \times 512$, SRC-Flow achieves state-of-the-art generation quality among normalizing flow methods, with gFID scores of 1.65 and 2.07 under classifier-free guidance, while retaining exact likelihood computation in the compact semantic representation space and deterministic invertible sampling at the flow level. Abstract:We present Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0, a suite of high-compression Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) that achieve significant advances in both reconstruction fidelity and diffusability. To address the reconstruction bottlenecks of high compression, we adopt an improved architecture featuring Global Skip Connections (GSC) and expanded latent channels. Moreover, we scale training to billions of images and incorporate a synthetic rendering engine to improve performance in text-rich scenarios. To tackle the convergence challenges of high-dimensional latent space, we implement an enhanced semantic alignment strategy to make the latent space highly amenable to diffusion modeling. To optimize computational efficiency, we leverage an asymmetric and attention-free encoder-decoder backbone to minimize encoding overhead. We present a comprehensive evaluation of Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 on public reconstruction benchmarks. To evaluate performance in text-rich scenarios, we propose OmniDoc-TokenBench, a new benchmark comprising a diverse collection of real-world documents coupled with specialized OCR-based evaluation metrics. Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 achieves state-of-the-art reconstruction performance, demonstrating exceptional capabilities in both general domains and text-rich scenarios at high compression ratio. Furthermore, downstream DiT experiments reveal our models possess superior diffusability, significantly accelerating convergence compared to existing high-compression baselines. These establish Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 as a leading model with high compression, superior reconstruction, and exceptional diffusability.
Abstract:We present Qwen-Image-2.0, an omni-capable image generation foundation model that unifies high-fidelity generation and precise image editing within a single framework. Despite recent progress, existing models still struggle with ultra-long text rendering, multilingual typography, high-resolution photorealism, robust instruction following, and efficient deployment, especially in text-rich and compositionally complex scenarios. Qwen-Image-2.0 addresses these challenges by coupling Qwen3-VL as the condition encoder with a Multimodal Diffusion Transformer for joint condition-target modeling, supported by large-scale data curation and a customized multi-stage training pipeline. This enables strong multimodal understanding while preserving flexible generation and editing capabilities. The model supports instructions of up to 1K tokens for generating text-rich content such as slides, posters, infographics, and comics, while significantly improving multilingual text fidelity and typography. It also enhances photorealistic generation with richer details, more realistic textures, and coherent lighting, and follows complex prompts more reliably across diverse styles. Extensive human evaluations show that Qwen-Image-2.0 substantially outperforms previous Qwen-Image models in both generation and editing, marking a step toward more general, reliable, and practical image generation foundation models.
Abstract:Accurately estimating friction coefficients between arbitrary material pairs is critical for robotics, digital fabrication, and physics-based simulation, but exhaustive pairwise testing scales quadratically with the number of materials. We introduce a proxy-based modeling framework that approximates any pairwise friction $f(A,B)$ from a small, fixed set of proxy materials $C=[c_1,\dots,c_k]$ by learning a per-material embedding $z_A = g(f(A,c1),\dots,f(A,ck))$ and a fusion function $p$ such that $f(A,B)\approx p\big(z_A,z_B\big)$. We present deterministic and probabilistic realizations of $g$ and $p$, procedures for selecting diverse proxy sets, and mechanisms for handling missing or noisy proxy measurements. The learned embeddings are compact, interpretable, and enable calibrated uncertainty estimates for downstream decision making. On simulated and measured friction datasets, our approach achieves high predictive accuracy, robust performance with partial observations, and substantial experimental savings by significantly reducing pairwise testing.
Abstract:The rapid progress of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) tools enables images, videos, and visualizations to be created on demand for webpage design, offering a flexible and increasingly adopted paradigm for modern UI/UX. However, directly integrating such tools into automated webpage generation often leads to style inconsistency and poor global coherence, as elements are generated in isolation. We propose MM-WebAgent, a hierarchical agentic framework for multimodal webpage generation that coordinates AIGC-based element generation through hierarchical planning and iterative self-reflection. MM-WebAgent jointly optimizes global layout, local multimodal content, and their integration, producing coherent and visually consistent webpages. We further introduce a benchmark for multimodal webpage generation and a multi-level evaluation protocol for systematic assessment. Experiments demonstrate that MM-WebAgent outperforms code-generation and agent-based baselines, especially on multimodal element generation and integration. Code & Data: https://aka.ms/mm-webagent.
Abstract:Recent advances in image generation models have expanded their applications beyond aesthetic imagery toward practical visual content creation. However, existing benchmarks mainly focus on natural image synthesis and fail to systematically evaluate models under the structured and multi-constraint requirements of real-world commercial design tasks. In this work, we introduce BizGenEval, a systematic benchmark for commercial visual content generation. The benchmark spans five representative document types: slides, charts, webpages, posters, and scientific figures, and evaluates four key capability dimensions: text rendering, layout control, attribute binding, and knowledge-based reasoning, forming 20 diverse evaluation tasks. BizGenEval contains 400 carefully curated prompts and 8000 human-verified checklist questions to rigorously assess whether generated images satisfy complex visual and semantic constraints. We conduct large-scale benchmarking on 26 popular image generation systems, including state-of-the-art commercial APIs and leading open-source models. The results reveal substantial capability gaps between current generative models and the requirements of professional visual content creation. We hope BizGenEval serves as a standardized benchmark for real-world commercial visual content generation.
Abstract:Visual AutoRegressive (VAR) models based on next-scale prediction enable efficient hierarchical generation, yet the inference cost grows quadratically at high resolutions. We observe that the computationally intensive later scales predominantly refine high-frequency textures and exhibit substantial spatial redundancy, in contrast to earlier scales that determine the global structural layout. Existing pruning methods primarily focus on high-frequency detection for token selection, often overlooking structural coherence and consequently degrading global semantics. To address this limitation, we propose StepVAR, a training-free token pruning framework that accelerates VAR inference by jointly considering structural and textural importance. Specifically, we employ a lightweight high-pass filter to capture local texture details, while leveraging Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to preserve global structural information. This dual-criterion design enables the model to retain tokens critical for both fine-grained fidelity and overall composition. To maintain valid next-scale prediction under sparse tokens, we further introduce a nearest neighbor feature propagation strategy to reconstruct dense feature maps from pruned representations. Extensive experiments on state-of-the-art text-to-image and text-to-video VAR models demonstrate that StepVAR achieves substantial inference speedups while maintaining generation quality. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations consistently show that our method outperforms existing acceleration approaches, validating its effectiveness and general applicability across diverse VAR architectures.
Abstract:We investigate what structure emerges in 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) solutions from standard multi-view optimization. We term these Rendering-Optimal References (RORs) and analyze their statistical properties, revealing stable patterns: mixture-structured scales and bimodal radiance across diverse scenes. To understand what determines these parameters, we apply learnability probes by training predictors to reconstruct RORs from point clouds without rendering supervision. Our analysis uncovers fundamental density-stratification. Dense regions exhibit geometry-correlated parameters amenable to render-free prediction, while sparse regions show systematic failure across architectures. We formalize this through variance decomposition, demonstrating that visibility heterogeneity creates covariance-dominated coupling between geometric and appearance parameters in sparse regions. This reveals the dual character of RORs: geometric primitives where point clouds suffice, and view synthesis primitives where multi-view constraints are essential. We provide density-aware strategies that improve training robustness and discuss architectural implications for systems that adaptively balance feed-forward prediction and rendering-based refinement.
Abstract:In 1888, Vincent van Gogh wrote, "I am seeking exaggeration in the essential." This principle, amplifying structural form while suppressing photographic detail, lies at the core of Post-Impressionist art. However, most existing 3D style transfer methods invert this philosophy, treating geometry as a rigid substrate for surface-level texture projection. To authentically reproduce Post-Impressionist stylization, geometric abstraction must be embraced as the primary vehicle of expression. We propose a flow-guided geometric advection framework for 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) that operationalizes this principle in a mesh-free setting. Our method extracts directional flow fields from 2D paintings and back-propagates them into 3D space, rectifying Gaussian primitives to form flow-aligned brushstrokes that conform to scene topology without relying on explicit mesh priors. This enables expressive structural deformation driven directly by painterly motion rather than photometric constraints. Our contributions are threefold: (1) a projection-based, mesh-free flow guidance mechanism that transfers 2D artistic motion into 3D Gaussian geometry; (2) a luminance-structure decoupling strategy that isolates geometric deformation from color optimization, mitigating artifacts during aggressive structural abstraction; and (3) a VLM-as-a-Judge evaluation framework that assesses artistic authenticity through aesthetic judgment instead of conventional pixel-level metrics, explicitly addressing the subjective nature of artistic stylization.
